GE Healthcare Life Sciences and SCIEX collaborate to expand multi-vendor service support in North America

Collaboration represents an extension to SCIEX Global Services’ strategy.

August 10, 2011

GE Healthcare, a unit of General Electric Company (NYSE: GE) and SCIEX today announced a collaboration agreement to provide GE Healthcare's Smart Asset Management Services (SAMS) customers throughout North America with the option for full on-site service and maintenance support of SCIEX mass spectrometry systems. This will enable customers to realize the convenience and productivity gains associated with SAMS, while maintaining access to the service and applications expertise of the original equipment manufacturer.

As a world-class provider of advanced technologies for life science research and biopharmaceutical manufacturing, GE Healthcare Life Sciences has developed SAMS, a portfolio of services for scientific asset management that enables consolidation of multi-vendor service support and provides insights into asset utilization. SAMS helps to simplify service operating models, reduce operating costs and improve overall productivity.

SCIEX is a global leader in mass spectrometry and a trusted partner to thousands of scientists and lab analysts worldwide. The company's Global Services organization provides a complete portfolio of best-in-class service and support for its mass spectrometry systems and software to protect customers' investments by minimizing costs and maximizing uptime of their systems.

To further strengthen the SAMS offering, GE Healthcare Life Sciences is actively building partnerships with leading original equipment manufacturers. Under the agreement announced today,  SCIEX is able to supplement the on-site work of GE Healthcare service engineers with SCIEX service and support when needed. This partnering arrangement with an asset management service provider brings a variety of benefits to enhance efficiency, including a single point of contact for service support, and represents an extension to  SCIEX Global Services' strategy.

"Laboratory managers are increasingly looking to have one point of contact for service and repair in order to reduce costs, reduce instrument down-time and increase productivity," said Eric Roman, President, Global Commercial Operations, GE Healthcare Life Sciences. "This agreement with SCIEX in North America is an illustration of our strategy to provide the highest quality service support for our customers."

"Partnering with asset management service providers, such as GE Healthcare Life Sciences, gives our customers more flexible options to obtain the level of support they need," said Doug Onesko, vice president of SCIEX Global Services. "Working with GE Healthcare Life Sciences will help ensure delivery of exceptional quality service that our customers expect in the life science research and pharmaceutical fields."
