Battery Compliance in Luxembourg

Collection and Recycling Arrangements in Luxembourg

The Batteries Directive 2006/66/EC was transposed in Luxembourg through the Decree law on Batteries and Waste Batteries, published on 30 December 2008.

Producers of portable batteries must finance the take-back and recycling of waste portable batteries from portable batteries collection points. The producer normally achieves this by joining a local portable batteries compliance scheme and paying a batteries recycling fee.

Due to the way in which SCIEX sells portable batteries in Luxembourg, SCIEX is not classed as a portable batteries producer in Luxembourg. SCIEX is therefore not legally required to join a portable batteries compliance scheme and pay for the collection and recycling for these types of batteries.

You can contact your local authority to identify local collection points where you can dispose of any waste portable batteries you hold.
