Resolving SCIEX OS Software Error: Cannot Open LibraryViewServiceHost Service on Computer

Issue Description

Occasionally, when users try to launch SCIEX OS software and then access the Analytics mode, the following error is shown: "Error has occurred: Cannot open LibraryViewServiceHost service on computer '.'. LibraryView service must be running."

Resolution

LibraryViewServiceHost should be running regardless of how the user logged into Windows on the PC where SCIEX OS software is installed. In general, LibraryViewServiceHost starts automatically when the computer starts, regardless of who is logged on or how they logged on to Windows to access SCIEX OS software.

The above error means the LibraryViewServiceHost was not started when the Analytics mode was opened. If the service did not start and the user does not have administrative privileges, then one of the following workarounds must be used:
 

1) Right-click on the SCIEX OS software icon on the desktop and then select Run as Administrator. After SCIEX OS software launches opens, select the Analytics mode to start the service.
2) Start the command prompt as Administrator and then type "net start libraryviewservicehost" to start the service. After the service has started, close the SCIEX OS software and then re-launch it as usual by clicking the icon.
