Answer

The SCIEX OS Software acquires each sample sequentially. After acquisition is completed, the queue stops, and the system goes into Ready state – whereby the LC and MS remain on with the pumps flowing and the column oven temperature maintained. After a set time (the instrument idle time) has elapsed, the system will go into Standby state in which the LC pumps, column oven and some mass spectrometer voltages are turned off. The autosampler temperature remains on to prevent sample degradation.

To change the instrument idle time in SCIEX OS software, navigate to the Configuration pane, and select the Queue tab. The instrument idle time can be changed by typing the desired time into the field. The instrument idle time is typically decreased so that the pumps stop flowing earlier after the last injection to conserve mobile phase.
